what's wrong with the Oakland Raiders

Having fallen down many times when there was absolutely no excuse for it, I find this laughable. But it leads one to the following thought: When did doing our best become not important? When did time become the deciding factor? It seems to me we are saying put the time in, but don't worry about the result. The time is more important than doing the job right.

Some jobs just don't fit into this mold. Some jobs take the time Darren McFadden take to do right and that time varies depending on the job. Football is one of those things. It might take weeks to get something right, or it might take two plays. But, the NFL and the Player's Union don't seem to care about this. They just want rule xxx followed. So next week, instead of practicing, the Raiders take two days off, but someday when they get paid, those days will count like they practiced. Lord knows, we can't let one team get overworked.
But, before the season starts you apparently can only hold pretend practices or something. They are not supposed to get rough, or last over two hours. Are you kidding me? Oops, its two hours. Well, let's not worry that all our plays are wrong. We're at the limit. Geez.

Considering the NFL doesn't pay its players until the season starts, why on earth are both the NFL and the player's union punching a time clock with limits? You think the union would insist the NFL pay its players since their career can end at any time. Nope, they don't. So, they try to extend a player's playing life by limiting what he can do.

In case you missed it, the Oakland Raiders need all the help and practice they can get. They had a horrible season last year. This year (as usual, really) they are starting over with a new quarterback and other players, not to mention coaches. They need all the practice and work they can get.

Chris Johnson Is A Disgrace

That's right, I said it. (cheap Chris Johnson jersey )is an absolute abomination to the league. No one in their right mind should pay him the kind of money he's getting right now. He's an absolute disgrace to his pay bracket.

Starters, on average, earn over $2 million a year. CJ is set to earn his meager $550,000. It's ridiculous, honestly. The Titans should pay the man handsomely, but they won't. The Titans should try their best to keep their record-setting, Pro Bowler, off-the-charts-amazing running back as happy as they possibly can.

They shouldn't pay him thirty to $40 million, but they should give the man at least median salary of the top backs in the league, maybe matching the franchise tag value which is $6.53M.(discount Chris Johnson jersey)

The Titans tend to disappoint when it's time to put money on the table, but they should buy in to the old saying, "A happy employee is a productive employee."

Tuesday's practice observations‎

A look at some of the happenings from Tuesday's Titans minicamp:

The biggest ovation of the day came from the players before they took the field. It was a reaction to Coach Jeff Fisher telling them they'd be practicing inside the bubble instead of outside in the heat.
Quarterback Vince Young connected with receiver Justin Gage for a beautiful strike downfield early on.
Later, Kerry Collins hit Lavelle Hawkins with a nice throw in the middle of the defense. Hawkins has had a good offseason.
Quarterbacks Chris Simms and Rusty Smith got into the mix. Simms made a number of tight throws, and Smith showed off his arm when he threw a strike across the middle of the field to fellow rookie Bobby Sewall.
Nickel back Vincent Fuller made a great break-up of a ball thrown to tight end Bo Scaife.
While second-year tight end Jared Cook made a nice sideline catch, he dropped a would-be touchdown pass from Simms roughly 40 yards downfield on a ball that hit him in the hands.
Second-year cornerback Jason McCourty continues to work with the first team defense, and he continues to make plays. Toward the end of Tuesday's practice he intercepted Smith on a ball that went off Mico McSwain.

NFL Network: Seahawks Interested In Vincent Jackson? Don’t Bet on It.

One of my readers made me aware that the NFL jerseys Network just came out with a report that the Seattle Seahawks could be interested in restricted free agent Vincent Jackson.

Flipping there and checking one of the endless re-airings of the same broadcast, yes, Jason La Canfora said the Seattle Seahawks could make a play for him.

Be very skeptical of this report.

They just got done playing this game with another restricted elite receiver named Brandon Marshall, who was deemed too expensive at a bounty of two second round picks.

The Chargers will certainly use that as a measuring stick, and although Jackson is not as good as Marshall (he's close), the price tag will be similar.

After dealing next years third round pick to the Chargers for Charlie Whitehurst already, it is highly unlikely the Seahawks will deal anything north of that figure.

The Chargers, with Marshall's return as a measuring stick, certainly won't accept anything lower than a second rounder for Jackson.

The match just isn't there.

If the Chargers want to gift wrap him to us for a fourth round pick though, go for it.
